Rihanna was captured on the set of the “Princess of China” video she was filming with Coldplay in Los Angeles.
She’s already tweeted some of her “gangsta goth geisha” looks (on the first picture sporting golden finger jewelry custom made by Michael Schmidt) and I can’t wait to share all the fashion credits I’ll know and be able to find with you as soon as the video is out.
With the candids that hit the Internet last night, Rihanna takes us back to the 1984 when the (now iconic) “Rocking Horse Ballerina” shoes she wears saw the light for the very first time on Vivienne Westwood SS 1985 “Mini-Crin” runway.
Vivienne wanted to “achieve poise and elevation as well as movement”. She thought “the mini-crin to be simular to a ballerina’s tutu and wanted the footwear to reflect and enhance the moving and swaying of the skirt”.
The “Rocking Horse Ballerina” (part of “Vivienne Westwood Shoes” world-touring exhibition) continued to play an important part in the AW 1987 “Harris Tweed” collection.
You can order your pair of Vivienne Westwood Gold Label “Rocking Horse Ballerinas” directly through the official site.
The ivory and grey open sleeve tie cuff split leg wrap jumpsuit Rihanna dons on the scene of “Princess of China” was custom made for her by Adam Selman!
